The starting point for Lara's work is a digital image. This may be a photograph Lara has taken, an image from social media or a film still. Lara then makes numerous studies of the same or similar image, where the photographic image is gradually disregarded and the paintings become about pattern and tone. A sense of being many times removed from the source material is evident in the final painting, although Lara aims to retain the glowing quality associated with a digital image.
