Toby’s work varies in scale from postcard-sized studies on board through to expansive canvases. The palette is often true to the source material, where the source material ranges from found photographs through to reimaginings of famous works of art.
Toby’s work contains both a strong narrative and also questions the act of painting. Through reappropriation he makes us consider the ‘original’ in a completely new way.
